The story
When the mountain calls your name
A spoiler-light look at the adventure waiting for you.
On the tropical island of Hoptu, life in the village of Yushan should be simple: markets, family dinners, and the ordinary magic of growing up. But fear has a landlord. Great Lord Kah-Ching rules with greed in one hand and nightmare in the other — and the volcano above the island is starting to answer him.
“For her brother, for her village, for the adventure of her life…”
Jade Lee is eleven going on unstoppable. Her little brother Tai draws dragons the world pretends are only stories. Their pets — Fen the scholarly turtle and Larf the guitar-slinging carp — are about to become much more than mascots. When a prophecy surfaces and soldiers come for the people Jade loves, she does what heroes do before they know they are heroes: she runs toward the truth.
What follows is a race through glowing caves, ancient stone guardians, and the secrets buried under Jade Mountain. Friendship is tested. Courage looks a lot like showing up scared and staying anyway. And somewhere between the lava light and the lantern glow, two kids will decide what kind of legend their island gets to keep.
